Soulfuric is one of the most well-renowned labels in house music worldwide. As production duo Jazz-N-Groove and Urban Blues Project (UBP), Brian Tappert and Marc Pomeroy released records on classic labels including Sub-Urban, Strictly Rhythm and AM:PM, even cueing up the first ever release on Defected Records (and a UK chart no.8) with Soulsearcher’s 'Can’t Get Enough'. In 1996, the two founded their own label Soulfuric Recordings which eventually included sub-labels Soulfuric Deep and Soulfuric Trax. Soulfuric was and is one of the most important labels in the history of this genre we love, garnering a cult following and releasing classics from Axwell, John ‘Julius’ Knight, Shawn Christopher, Hardsoul, Melba Moore, & Copyright.
Donna Allen is renowned for her 1987 electro-funk smash ‘Serious’, as well as being the voice of Soulsearcher’s ‘Can’t Get Enough’. Here, she takes centre stage whilst Brian & Marc handle production duties. As U.B.P., they turn in the main mix and a pair of dubs, each dripping with funk and gospel vibes, whilst Brian goes solo for a Special Edit. Jose Nunez recalls the glory days of the Subliminal imprint with his pair of remixes, designed for the main room, whilst Guy Robin’s remix takes a more laidback approach. Likewise, Troublemen’s vocal and instrumental versions take a musical approach, whilst one half of the duo, DJ Fudge, goes solo with a shuffling, semi-broken beat. Rocco’s mix is deep and delicate, whilst Rawsoul Orchestra’s is bright and vibrant, and MoD’s is tracky and funk-flecked. An accapella rounds out this mammoth package.
